Gypsum Underlayment
Gypsum underlayments are widely considered the best application for UL rated assemblies in multi-family construction. Combining gypsum underlayments with an approved acoustical sound mat is the most cost-effective way to satisfy fire codes and STC/IIC ratings while providing a flat and smooth surface for finish floor goods applications.
Self-Leveling Underlayment
Self-leveling underlayments are designed to achieve high compressive strengths when capping spalled concrete, adhesive residue, or existing floor goods. The installation of leveling underlayments will not typically require shot blasting, special subfloor prep, or removal of old floor goods. The result of a leveled subfloor is a flat, smooth, and hard surface. Typical strength range for self-leveling underlayments is 3,500 – 5,500 PSI.
Radiant Heat Flooring
Radiant gypsum underlayments distribute heat evenly and efficiently throughout the floor when applied over hydronic tube or electrical heating applications. Radiantly heated floors are an increasingly popular option in custom homes and other types of building construction where lower temperatures are typical.
Sound Insulation
In recent years sound control in multi-family construction has become an imperative part of end-user satisfaction. As a result, STC and IIC ratings of floor/ceiling assemblies have been continuously updated to ensure proper sound tolerance. Gypsum underlayment combined with the appropriate sound mat will deliver an assembly that meets or exceeds these standards.
